STOXX Ltd., now part of Qontigo, has been named ‘Best European Index Provider’ by ETF Express for a tenth year, an award conferred by readers of the digital news publisher.
We are particularly honored with the endorsement as it comes in a year full of innovative launches, deepening collaboration with clients and internal transformation.
Last year brought big change at STOXX. In April, the combination of Deutsche Börse Group’s index business (which oversees the STOXX and DAX brands) with Axioma’s best-of-breed portfolio-construction and risk-analytics tools was announced. Out of this combination, a new company, Qontigo, was launched in September 2019. Qontigo is a financial intelligence innovator and leader in the modernization of investment management, from risk to return.
Soon after the operating debut of Qontigo in September, the combination of forces was embodied in a new product: the STOXX Factor Indices. The global family of factor-based indices was built using Axioma’s advanced portfolio-construction tools and risk models, and STOXX’s state-of-the-art indexing capabilities. The indices are designed to offer strong and tradable factor exposure.
The past twelve months also saw the introduction of an entire suite of ESG-X indices, which are ESG-compliant versions of established benchmarks. The ESG-X index concept was developed based on input from asset owners and includes standard norms- and product-involvement screening for portfolios that comply with sustainable principles. Two of the ESG-X indices – the STOXX® Europe 600 ESG-X Index and STOXX® USA 500 ESG-X Index – underlie futures on Eurex to high demand.
We also introduced the DAX® 50 ESG Index, which aims to become the new benchmark for German sustainable equity investments.
We continue building up our family of thematic indices, which now has two dozen products tracking the beneficiaries of modern themes that feed on disruptive megatrends. New launches include the STOXX® Global Next Generation Telecoms Index and the STOXX® Global Smart Cities Index.
Qontigo also introduced STOXX iSTUDIO™, an integrated end-to-end index development application powered by market-leading infrastructure that allows users to build their own indices. iSTUDIO illustrates the changing face of index investing, where investors want more customized and versatile indices that respond to individual needs.
Throughout the past year we worked together with asset owners, asset managers and issuers of exchange-traded funds and structured products to conceive those products that meet the increasingly sophisticated demand and targets of end clients. The collaboration and discussions with partners are precisely what helps us push the envelope in index innovation and are at the core of what we stand for at Qontigo.
The next twelve months look as exciting as we plan to introduce smart concepts in a changing marketplace and amid a background of increased volatility. With more and deeper ‘big data’ and intelligent analytics, the possibilities of indexing couldn’t look more promising.
We thank ETF Express for their recognition, and all of our clients for joining us on this journey.
